There is great need in the world of true, viable and verifiable news. There is a battle for the hearts and minds of men that scriptures warn us of (Mt. 24:11, 2 Peter 2:1-3; 1 John 2:26). Media is a chief influencer. Psalm 33:4 declares, "For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth." If this is true, we need to contend for truth to be relayed through the influencers of the world...media.
Scripture is full of references to the broadcast of "fake news" by the enemies of God. Several that come to mind are Num. 13:25-33, 2Sam 20:1-2, 2Kings 18:17-37, Neh. 6:12-14. Numbers 13 shows us it’s not just what we hear, it’s what we choose to believe. The issue is that there were two reports; one affirming natural circumstances and one affirming the promise and power of God. When confronted with a bad report or twisted words that sounded convincing, God's people inquired of HIM and listened for what He would say. They refused to receive discouragement, be pulled "off task" or succumb to intimidation.
The Spirit of God will always bring revelation, understanding, and a steadfast spirit to those who believe His word, remember who they are, and hold fast to His covenant promises. Whose report will we believe? We will believe the report of the Lord! These scriptures are for your use in praying for the media. (All verses NKJV unless otherwise noted)

Pray for salvation for those in media to speak righteousness and reveal truth To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. And you will know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
Pray for conviction of speaking falsehood These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift to running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness will utter lies. A true witness delivers souls, but a deceitful witness speaks lies. For your hands are defiled with blood, And your fingers with iniquity; Your lips have spoken lies, Your tongue has muttered perversity. For our transgressions are multiplied before You and our sins testify against us, and as for our iniquities, we know them: In transgressing and lying against the Lord, and departing from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. Justice is turned back, and righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter. Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Pray for hearers of news to discern what is and what is not true And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you." For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. But test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. "But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man."
Pray for the understanding of deception as an end-time narrative And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another. Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold. But he who endures to the end shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, They did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie. But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
