International Call for Prayer and Fasting
Joining Generations and Nations
13 January - 22 February, 2018
Joining Generations and Nations
"THE PEOPLE WHO WERE SITTING IN DARKNESS SAW A GREAT LIGHT,
AND THOSE WHO WERE SITTING IN THE LAND AND SHADOW OF DEATH,
UPON THEM A LIGHT DAWNED."
-MATTHEW 4:16
Repeated words have come forth of a great harvest knocking at the door of the church. Jesus fasted and prayed for 40 days in the wilderness before His ministry began on earth. Daniel faced the forces and threats of captivity, through prayer and fasting, and received favor inspite of the opposition and threats. Hebraic year 5778, 2018 is a year of "Gates." The Hebrew letter for 8 is the letter Chet (ה) meaning "life" and resembles a "gate." Past seasons, visions, purposes of God are coming to a clear entry point for "new life" to be released. We are being prepared to enter a significant year for the Kingdom of God to advance through this call for prayer and fasting. Though the battle is significant at the gate we, like Daniel, must prepare ourselves to discern the will of the Father, humble ourselves and hone our character to enter into this coming season spiritually through this call.
Why January 13-February 22? Two significant calls for this time period have been issued from distinctly different entities:
- College students across the USA are being called into a Collegiate Jesus Fast from January 13-February 22nd the "Collegiate Day of Prayer." Go to www.collegiatejesusfast.com for more information.
- A rallying call for a similar fast has been issued through the South Pacific from New Zealand ending February 22nd.
Along with fasting, we would strongly encourage you to join in an Isaiah 58:9 Fast, fasting from negative thinking and speech, as a part of the fast in renewing our minds.
Above all, Isaiah 58:6-12 says it best:
GOD'S CHOSEN FAST: v. 6-7
“Is this not the fast that I have chosen:
- To loose the bonds of wickedness,
- To undo the heavy burdens,
- To let the oppressed go free,
- And that you break every yoke?
- Is it not to share your bread with the hungry,
- And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out;
- When you see the naked, that you cover him,
- And not hide yourself from your own flesh?
Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
You shall cry, and He will say, “Here I am.’
EXHORTATION: v. 9b-10a
‘If you take away the yoke from your midst,
The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
PROMISES: v. 10b-12
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.
The Lord will guide you continually,
And satisfy your soul in drought,
And strengthen your bones;
You shall be like a watered garden,
And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
Those from among you
Shall build the old waste places;
You shall raise up the foundations of many generations;
And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach,
The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In."
In addition to these calls for fasting, we invite you to join in the Isaiah 58:9 fast in preparation for a landmark year ahead!
