Recently, I had a strong vision. The vision was of a plumb line that, out of the silence, suddenly appeared, but its weight was significant and carried a reverential power riveting my attention. The silence was profound, and the presence of the Lord was undeniable. As I watched, to its right in the spiritual atmosphere, a door appeared and opened. That was it. The power and weight of it was irrefutable. What is the Lord saying in this?
In seeking the Lord about the interpretation of this, I was drawn to Zechariah 4:10.

For these seven rejoice to see The plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD, Which scan to and fro throughout the whole earth." |
Combining the vision with the scripture conveys a message for today and what we will likely face in the coming year…i.e., chaotic challenges and birth pangs…aka… judgments of God.
Within a week of the vision, a massive fire hit the state of California where we live. This is NOT fire season in California. Most all agree this is a birth pang of judgment, apocalyptic in nature, and God is calling us to attention. Isaiah promises, For when your judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness, Isaiah 26:9. The vision, Zerubbabel, the plumb line, and the door all carry a significant message, challenge, and encouragement in the face the judgments we are now in and will be facing. A holy God is reckoning, assessing the world, and weighing us in the balance. Ultimately, the purpose of judgments is not punishment but rather to incite transformation.
Who is Zerubbabel?
Zerubbabel was the governor of Judah during the first return of Jews from Babylon under Cyrus II, Ezra 1:1-4; 6:3-5, 8-10. Haggai was the prophet, and Joshua was the high priest during that time, Ezra 3:2-8, Zechariah 3. He was a descendant of David and, as such, was an ancestor to Jesus Christ, Matthew 1:12-13, Luke 3:27. As governor, he played a significant role in guiding the Israelites through their return and the tremendous challenges they faced in rebuilding Jerusalem and the temple.
Zerubbabel’s name actually is two words in Hebrew, Zara and Babel. They carry significant meaning.

What is the significance of a Plumb line?
Plumblines are a tool to find the true vertical. Spiritually, they signify directives from heaven that carry eternal truths that expose “crooked” places or things that are out of alignment. Such lines can expose and disrupt things that are out of alignment (Isaiah 28:16-17). They signify a standard of righteousness and justice (Amos 7:8). When spiritual plumb lines are in place, we are vertically aligned with God and hold steady in the headwinds of judgments (Amos 7:8-17).
What does the open door represent?
In a season of shift, doors represent passageways from one room to another or from one environment to another. Spiritually they can represent new opportunities, transitions, or boundaries between different spiritual states.
PUTTING IT TOGETHER:
Make no mistake. God is calling us to attention. We are in a time of alignments and re-alignments. The plumb line of heaven is dropping. When it drops, crooked places will be exposed, and necessary re-alignments will begin to manifest. This re-alignment, like the fires in CA, will come suddenly, no loud bang or trumpet blast, but its nature will carry in them the message and judgments of God.
In the alignment process new doors of opportunities will open. Things hoped for in the past or even forgotten, will suddenly come into view. Out of nowhere, suddenlies are going to happen to resurrect that which we thought was lost. God has not forgotten. He is now awakening us out of the “Days of Noah,” ambiguity into the reality of His desire to redeem and restore. (ref. Matthew 24:7)
When we are aroused to the call for attention and re-alignment, watch for the door. God is moving to redeem and restore lost hope, callings that demonic schemes and lullabies have thwarted. He is dealing with nations to redeem and restore their inheritance in Him. The plumbline is falling, the day of reckoning is at hand, and God is moving to redeem and restore.

California! The time of turning has come. My plumbline has fallen. Know that you are being purified in the fire, for the true gold of CA will shine forth. Though a deep darkness is upon you, My glory will arise over you. Your awakening is at the door. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me, Revelation 3:20.
Look up, for I am with you to restore to you the years the locusts have eaten. All of them…the swarming, those that would overtake you with their corruption, lies, power-mongering, and deceit; the crawling locusts, those that came in under cover of deception; the consuming locust, those that manipulate with greed and pride; and the chewing locusts, those that would consume and undermine My intent and resources. Their hiding places will be revealed, and that which has been hidden as a snare will be exposed.
My seeds of revival and resolve are in you. The fire of My desire is upon you to break open the hard shells of resistance. In the heat of the fire, I call forth your seed. Take root! Bear the fruit I have sent. The day of reckoning has come. Hear Me, I will make beauty out of ash heaps. Make way! Go through! Go through the gates! A mighty army is rising out of you, and restoration is their call. Lay hold of your plumbline, don’t let go! For by it, crooked places will be made straight, and I will guide your steps and way forward.
