The Order of Melchizedek Call

word for 2026/5786

The LORD has sworn
And will not relent,
"You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek."

Psalm 110:4

Susan Rowe, December 7, 2025
Have you ever struggled with your identity in Christ—finding yourself challenged in difficult situations, conflicts, or criticism, uncertain how to react, or just feel dumped on? If so, welcome to the world of humanity! Our world is weathering an epidemic of identity crises, shaking the moral compass of entire nations. Wars and rumors of war are erupting despite the strained attempts to negotiate treaties. The global atmosphere is increasingly unsettled, making even the most stalwart in faith falter.
Yet into this very kind of world, a baby's cry broke through 400 years of silence when Jesus was born. God stepped into human affairs with a whole new message, a new way of relationship, fresh hope, and renewed strength. Jesus didn’t come only to comfort or heal—His message and life would shatter centuries of Mosaic/Levitical tradition, opening the door to a "New World" of "New Covenant" relationship with Him.
Why did God send His Son then?  Because Israel stood on the brink of historic change. A seismic shift was approaching—one that would shake the nation, scatter its people, and bring an end to the temple system. Before that day arrived, Jesus established a radically different kind of relationship with people. He expressed a priesthood not tied to place, tribe, or ritual—but to Himself, the eternal King-Priest. His life affirmed an ancient order…and that order is calling us again.
During a recent meeting of the California Prayer Watch*, we were compelled to gather to seek the Lord's heart for our state. We had just heard Chuck Pierce, declare that this year marks "California's last stand." A turning of the state is crucial now for its survival. Riveted by the intensity of the concern, we went into a time of worship and repentance, culminating in a corporate eruption of speaking in tongues. Suddenly, the importance of 'Melchizedek' burst into my view  (Genesis 14:18). Scenes from past prayer initiatives across our state and the recent journey to Armenia came as a whirlwind before my eyes. What we had been through over the years suddenly fit like pieces of a puzzle coming into alignment as an arrow hitting the target. Scriptures came alive with new prophetic weight like a revelatory whirlwind. As I spoke the words, "God is calling forth the order of Melchizedek!" it was as if the plumbline of heaven struck the room, catapulting all present into a new spiritual understanding and revelation, giving us direction in how to contend.

WHO IS MELCHIZEDEK?
Who is this Melchizedek — and why does he matter now? Like the miracle of the virgin birth of Jesus, Melchizedek is no less a mystery in the Bible that has puzzled scholars for millennia. This burst of revelation plunged me into a deep dive on the subject. No matter what your opinion, looking at the Scriptures, the circumstances, and the timing of His appearance in Abram's life carries lessons and powerful principles that, when applied, can be transformative even today. This brief word barely scratches the surface but hopefully fuels inspiration and desire for more to all who read.
His sudden appearance in Genesis 14 was not random; it was an intervention from Heaven, a paradigm shift, a divine alignment preparing Abram for what was coming and an eternal destiny. This pattern is repeating today. With end-time wars and rumors of war erupting across the globe, like Abram, God is meeting His people now — some battle-worn, others prayer-weary, or burdened contending for promise—to realign and strengthen us with His purposes. Looking at the circumstances around Abram's meeting with Melchizedek offers insights into the message today--and God's appointed time.

ABRAM AND MELCHIZEDEK MEET
Abram met Melchizedek after defeating a powerful coalition of eastern kings who came against the kings of the Jordan Valley. Taking over Sodom and Gomorrah, the eastern kings, under Chedorlaomor, took Abram's nephew Lot. Hearing of the war and Lot's kidnapping, Abram then mustered three-hundred-and-eighteen trained servants to battle. Heading right into the war, Abram and his small coalition of servants defeated Chedorlaomer and the kings with him (Genesis 14:17) and retrieved Lot, his family, and goods. Turning back to Canaan, with the King of Sodom in hot pursuit, Abram was about to head into the meeting of a lifetime.
In this meeting, what did Abram see? Coming out of the ravages of war, Abram suddenly meets a figure never mentioned before but described as the king and priest of Salem (meaning peace). Abram witnessed and saw:
  • A figure whose spiritual influence emanated peace…a marked spiritual shift from the atmosphere of war and contention.
  • A spiritual authority who shifted the aggressive war-torn battle mindset into a sanctuary and place of invitation, giving, revelation, and blessing.

What did Melchizedek see? Melchizedek saw a man who had been called by God, with an entourage of family, three-hundred-and-eighteen faithful, trained, and skilled men, bedraggled from war. Looking at Abram, he saw the following:
  • A man called by God who had lived up to the name of "Abram", meaning "exalted father," who had faithfully responded to God's call in obedience.
  • A faithful "father" surrounded by loyal servants and a family he had retrieved from war, Genesis 14:14.
  • A man who had failed in the past (Genesis 12) when, during a drought, had decided to flee from the land of promise to Egypt, had lied and deceived others to hide the identity of his wife, Sarai, from the pharaoh of Egypt. Basically, he had denied his inheritance and trusted in himself to deal with the challenges he faced.
  • A man who carried seeds of God's redemptive purpose and plan, but not yet manifest.
At this meeting, Israel and the Levitical priesthood had not yet been born. Yet Melchizedek, functioning as a Christological king and priest, saw Abram's potential and destiny and offered him bread and wine. This would be a pivotal intervention in Abram's life; a transformative encounter that would seal His identity and bring to fruition the seed of his destiny.

RESULT:
By receiving the wine and bread from Melchizedek and subsequently giving a tithe of what he had received, a major signpost of redemptive history was set in motion.  By receiving the offer of bread and wine:
  • Covenantal alignment and agreement were made with "God Most High," El Elyon (אֵ֣ל עֶלְי֔וֹן) , catapulting Abram into his true identity and determined destiny.
    • Genesis chapter 15 opens with God reaffirming His covenant with Abram, assuring him that "I (God) am your shield, your exceedingly great reward," Genesis 15:1.
    • God promises an heir that would come from Abram's own seed, Abram believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. By receiving communion, Abram took a giant step forward towards his determined destiny, Genesis 15:4-6
    • In Genesis chapter 17, Abram's identity was recognized and articulated. His name was changed from Abram, "exalted father," to "Abraham," meaning "Father of many nations." Sarai, meaning "my princess," became Sarah or "princess for all."  The "H" added to their names refers to "Yahweh." God Most High, and the pathway made for the manifestation of the promised heir.
  • Through covenantal alignment, the past mistakes of being deceptive regarding Sarai with the pharaoh of Egypt, and receiving wealth in return, were broken, as he now had the discernment not to engage with the king of Sodom,
    • But Abram said to the king of Sodom, "I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, 'I have made Abram rich'-- Genesis 14:22-23
  • The act of tithing released victory, and blessings upon Abram. He was now "Abram of God Most High," El Elyon, as Melchizedek blessed him:
And he blessed him and said:
"Blessed be Abram of God Most High, (El Elyon)
Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand." Genesis 14:19
IS THE MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD FOR TODAY?
The story of Melchizedek doesn't end with Abram in Genesis 14. David kicked the order of Melchizedek into the eternal realm in Psalm 110, "The Lord has sworn and will not relent, 'You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek!" v.4. David wrote this while the Levitical priesthood was fully operational.  God was hinting—through David—that a new kind of priesthood was coming.
The writer of Hebrews further picks up the thread and makes it unmistakably clear that Jesus was a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:6, 10; 6:20; 7:1, 10-11, 15, 17, & 21). He further explains, Jesus broke the genealogical order as He was from the tribe of Judah, not Levi, Hebrews 7:14. Thus, Jesus came not according to lineage, ritual, or man's law, but on God's own choosing according to the "Power of an endless life," Hebrews 7:15.
During his life on earth, Jesus demonstrated this paradigm shift and protocol break. Just days before His crucifixion, death, and miraculous resurrection, Jesus overturned the tables in the Temple. This act alone signaled the arrival and call for a new order of priests that would realign what was on earth with what was in heaven.
Peter continued the message describing "the priesthood of believers" in 1 Peter 2:9  to the growing number of Jesus' followers:  "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." Peter, an apostle to the Jews, declared we are all a priesthood, not just the Levites! Imagine receiving this in the culture of the time. This statement would have been radical! What? The ordinary Jew can be a priest from any of the tribes, and now also Gentiles! What in the world is he saying? Only Levites are priests!

THE CALL — A HISTORIC TIME!
Today, the world is again on the edge of change. As the end-time narrative accelerates with wars, rumors of war, and persecution intensifying around us, even sincere believers can be pulled away from their true spiritual inheritance, amplifying their insecurities and fears.  In Part I, I wrote: "When God desires to shift us, He will often bring us to the end of ourselves. The "Vav" (representing 6) is also straight like a nail. When Jesus came to the end of His physical life on earth, He was nailed to the cross. The very thing that brought about His death pivoted Him into His ultimate resurrection and destiny." So it is today, in the midst of this chaos, identity storm, conflict, and confusion, God is moving with intentional purpose—strengthening His elect and calling His people higher.
The call to the order of Melchizedek is not about position, platform, or religious protocol. It is an invitation—a summons into life-altering communion and a deeper walk with God Most High, El Elyon. It is a call to awaken and align ourselves with our true spiritual identity, first as individuals and ultimately as a unified body in Christ. Don't be surprised if you find yourself in challenging circumstances. Consider it an invitation by God Himself to draw close to Him. He is waiting for you with an ever-extended hand holding the bread and the wine. In a world seeking peace, when there is no peace, there is a King-Priest offering those willing into life-changing communion with Him — where true peace abides.

MANIFESTATIONS OF THE MELCHIZEDEK INFLUENCE:
Since the rebirth of Israel as a nation, we are living in historic times. Times are changing and God is calling His elect to attention. As this order of Melchizedek is understood and implemented, it can have a transformative effect on what we know as "Church" moving it into a powerful dimension of New Covenant reality — the ekklesia. The call for kings/priests moving in dimensions not yet seen is a vital revelation for the Church, the ekklesia, to apprehend to catalyze its fullness, Romans 11:25. God is molding and shaping us into the Church, the ekklesia, that the "gates of Hades cannot prevail against," Matthew 16:18. Barriers holding the church back from its influence in culture will breakdown. We are beginning to see this emergence. Charlie Kirk's influence was certainly an example of such an anointing. There are others as well. When implemented, watch for these "Melchizedek" realities to manifest:
Personal expressions:
  • Alignment with spiritual Identity: People will have divine encounters with the Lord that wipe away the reproaches of the past and engage them as spiritual sons and daughters; John 1:12;  Romans 8:19, Galatians 4:4-5
  • Revelation of God's Word released through dreams, visions, words, Joel 2:28-29
  • Courage, stability, spiritual stamina and authority leading to victory in troubled times, Psalm 18:2; Isaiah 26:3; Philippians 4:6-7

Corporate expressions:
  • Increased Influence: Godly influence will expand across the 7 mountains of culture, Psalm 24:1.
  • Unity: The "Nicolaitan" spirit (meaning to "conquer the laity") that has divided the laity and the church world will begin to melt as new paradigms for Kingdom expression spanning cultural spheres emerge. The Nicolaitan spirit is the spirit Jesus hates, Revelation 2:5-6.
  • Resurgence of Biblical Values: There will be a rise in the Church's influence in the culture as an Ekklesia where kings and priests working together uphold godly values, Micah 6:8. Examples today:
    • The USA Government's "Faith Office" has been moved to the West Wing of the White House.
    • 1000 pastors and church leaders have been invited and hosted by the Israeli government.
  • Moral clarity: Moral clarity will turn people back to Godly principles as people and nations turn towards righteousness, Proverbs 14:34.
  • Signs and wonders: Miraculous interventions and signs will occur with transformative results, Mark 16:17.
  • Tithing: People will be provoked to Godly tithing and giving, leading to creative financial stewardship, multiplication, and business strategies for the righteous. Where money is involved all kinds of demonic, narcissistic strongholds exist. Tithing breaks those ties and cultivates a generous spirit. One can never out-give God. Malachi 3:10; Proverbs 11:24; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8.
  • Transference of wealth: Release of God-inspired strategies for the transfer of the wealth of the wicked to the righteous, Proverbs 13:22; Ecclesiastes 2:26; Isaiah 61:6
  • Discipleship: God-inspired creative strategies released to advance the Kingdom. The great commission will expand beyond a focus on evangelism to encompass what Jesus, the great High Priest, said: "Go and make disciples of all nations," Matthew 28:19. There will be a call for spiritual mothers and fathers as God brings reconciliation between the generations, Malachi 4:5-6; 1 Corinthians 4:15
  • Boldness: People will be called forth in their God given identity out of love for God and one another, 1 John 4:17.
  • Governmental positioning and favor: Christians will be called to run for governmental offices and be placed or elected into places of cultural influence, Jeremiah 29:7; Proverbs 29:2; Matthew 5:14-16.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?
So how do we get to this place of peace and enter into this calling, aligned and blessed by God Most High? The answer is simpler than you might think; yet profoundly life-changing:
  1. Be thankful in all things. No matter the circumstances, be thankful. Romans 8:28; Ephesians 5:20.
  2. Take Sabbath rest weekly. This is the pathway to encounter the King and Priest of Salem, peace, who will supply all the bread and nourishment you need to face your future. Genesis 2:2-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Isaiah 56:6-7; 58:13-14; Matthew 11:28-30; Mark 2:27
  3. Take communion seriously by meditating on what the bread actually means and taking of the wine means to you personally,  Matthew 26:26--28; John 6:53-58
  4. Giving your tithe is the ultimate expression of gratitude, a heart exercise that cultivates generosity and transforms us, unlocking heaven's treasures. Malachi 3:10; Matthew 6:21; Romans 12:1; Hebrews 7:1-10; 2 Cor 9:6-14; Acts 4:32-37.
  5. Obey Him, step out in faith, and trust in God to do the rest.  John 10:27-28; John 14:15; James 1:22; Psalm 37:3-6

HE IS WAITING FOR US!
As we head into a "vav" (for the number 6) year that bridges the first five years of a decade with the second five years. God's Word describes the dichotomy of the times in Isaiah 60:2-3:
For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth,
And deep darkness the people;
But the LORD will arise over you,
And His glory will be seen upon you.
The Gentiles shall come to your light,
And kings to the brightness of your rising.
Isaiah 60:2-3
As darkness rises, God is awakening an ancient, transformative call—one aligned with the order of Melchizedek. Those who recognize and respond to this call will be tested particularly in their identity. As they endure the testing, communing with God in working through their internal turmoil will be the very fuel that enables them to become carriers of His light in the darkest places. They will see lives redirected, strongholds shattered, Kingdom resources released, and transformation ignited, even in the face of overwhelming resistance. We are in a vital time of transition — a God awakening is at hand (I believe we are in the Third Great Awakening).  God is waiting for us to step into it!  He is waiting for us!
